A long time ago, I wanted to have a blog, like a place where I could write and gather as much as possible about myself, my interests, what I think, what I feel, and, ultimately, how these things shape the person I am and the one I aspire to become.

This began as an attempt to answer a simple question, Who am I? (un)fortunately whatever I write here will never be the final answer. At best, these words can offer a fleeting glimpse into the way my mind tries to make sense of the world, and of itself.

And above all, this is the sword I wield in my battle against memory and oblivion.

Beyond the desire to have a place for pretentious thoughts, or the illusion that I simply enjoy writing, there is a more practical reason, I have a terrible memory. Perhaps it is a defense mechanism, perhaps not. Whatever the reason, these pages give me somewhere to return to sit, to breathe, and to witness the person I was becoming, and the one I continue to become.

Nature, and everything that belongs to it, lives under the tyranny of change. Those who, with pride and arrogance, try to halt the current of a river with their own wrinkled hands will always fail. The water will find its way through every scar, as it always has, and as it always will.
